Dear all,
Starting in 2022, the King Baudouin Foundation (KBF) and the Belgian HIV Research Consortium (BREACH) have put in place a collaborative process aiming to provide a significant financial support to research projects in the field of HIV developped by Belgian teams.
With the support of the industry, this BREACH / KBF initiative will allow to provide a total of 440 000 Euros for this second call.
The 2024 call which is launched today aims to support research projects in the field of HIV Clinical Science.
Next call will focus on Public Health (2026).
The global philosophy of this initiative is to promote research projects generated and performed by Belgian Teams, in a spirit of multidisciplinary collaboration.
The global aim is to get improvement in knowledge of HIV disease and ultimately to provide new tools for improvement of the global management of HIV / AIDS from prevention to clinical care, from social impacts to cure.
The research shall comply with the following conditions:
- Submitted projects must involve at least 2 teams, from 2 different Institutions / Universities. Additional international teams may be included. Multidisciplinary projects are clearly encouraged as well as “citizen science”, i.e. active involvement of patient organization and related actors.
- Calls are open to researchers in Belgium working in academic centers, hospitals or research centers not affiliated to commercial entities. Applicants must be over 18 years and is a professional working in the field of HIV (basic science, clinical science, public health…) with experience in research.
- Submitted projects must be non-commercial and be generated, managed and coordinated in Belgium (non-Belgian links are allowed provided projects remain mainly based in Belgium)
The preliminary and final results of the conducted research shall be presented at future BREACH Symposiums.
Candidates wanting to apply need to submit their research work by completing the attached submission form and information as described in the guidelines.
The choice will be made by an independent international jury appointed by BREACH and based upon the scientific value of the work as well as the quality of the submission document.
